Although there are many possible reasons for bleeding in between periods, it usually does not indicate a serious problem. You can feel more at ease if you are aware of the various reasons why there are blood stains on your underwear even when you are not having a period. You may experience anxiety if you experience spotting, also referred to as "off-period" bleeding.

Spotting between periods can be brought on by several conditions, including menopause, puberty, hormonal changes, or an underlying medical issue.

SPOTTING VS BLEEDING BETWEEN YOUR PERIODS: -

Light vaginal bleeding that occurs on days other than your typical period is referred to as spotting. You may detect small quantities of blood on your underwear, which is spotting, which often simply needs a panty liner for protection. However, there are also additional types of bleeding.

A few reddish drops of blood on your underwear known as "SPOTTING" usually don't require the usage of a sanitary pad.

Light bleeding happens right before or right after your period. Since it is regarded as a normal component of your menstruation, it is not legally referred to as spotting.

Breakthrough bleeding is heavier than spotting and occurs outside of the menstrual cycle.

5 CAUSES

(1) HORMONAL CHANGES - Spotting can occur if the oestrogen and progesterone hormones that regulate your cycle are out of balance. Your hormone levels may have been impacted recently by stress, a change in your diet or daily routine, or even both. Spotting that occurs at the beginning or the end of a woman's reproductive years, such as puberty or menopause, may be caused by hormones.

(2) Menopause- Pre menopause is the phase that females go through before getting menopause. Usually starts between the age of 45 and 55, it is indicated by a woman not getting her period for a year. During the phase of pre menopause, women experience some symptoms like fluctuating hormone level, which may cause irregular periods, heavy bleeding, and pre-menopausal bleed.

(3) JUST BEFORE YOUR PERIOD- Light bleeding or spotting before your menstruation is quite typical. Sometimes if the uterine wall is ruptured unevenly with some pieces shedding earlier than expected. In this scenario, the day before your period, this is a common reason for spotting.

(4) OVULATION- The production of an egg by the ovaries in the middle of the cycle is referred to as ovulation. This often happens 14 days following the start day of your previous period if you have a 28-day cycle. Hormone changes may cause spotting in between cycles. The pale pink or brown patches that resemble this blood on your underwear can be concealed using Whisper panty liners. Vaginal bleeding between periods may also be caused by extreme stress, significant weight loss or gain, thyroid problems, diabetes, and thyroid diseases, to name a few additional variables. If bleeding between periods is excessively heavy or lasts longer than three months, it is advisable to visit your doctor.

(5) MEDICAL CONDITIONS- PCOS is a condition where cysts are formed on the ovaries that disturb ovulation causing irregular periods or no periods at all. PCOS causes bleeding between periods and is not considered harmful. PCOS can be treated through medications. Few other conditions also lead to spotting. Uterine fibroids is one of them which are noncancerous growths that form in the uterus. Commonly seen in women who have given birth. Endometriosis or the growth of uterine tissue outside the uterus is another condition that may be a potential cause for bleeding between periods.
